Curious about mushrooms? In this introductory workshop we will dive into the wonderful world of mycology, covering everything from harvesting from the wild, cultivating in your home, and making medicine. This workshop includes a forest walk. Each participant will get to sample medicinal mushroom beverages, craft a medicinal mushroom tincture, and will take home an instruction manual for cultivation and medicine making. Mushroom grow kits and liquid cultures will be available for purchase at a discounted rate.

Facilitator's Bio


Bo Del Valle Garcia is the founder of Tangled Roots Nature Connection, a school for permaculture and wild skills. Bo is a neurodivergent, queer, white settler, permaculturalist, wildcrafter and budding herbalist. After seeking more formal education and finishing a Bsc in environmental sciences they dove deeper into all that the natural world had to teach them. They now focus on creating spaces where others can also connect to the natural world and learn a bunch of skills while doing so. Ukulele Starter Kit — Newcomer, Beginner

10:00am — 11:15am

Ages — 8-98+ (younger kids welcome to join with accompanying adult)

Requisites — Wanting to learn

So… you want to play ukulele? Then, this class is just for you. We will learn all the basics to start having fun with our new instrument. You will learn how to hold it, the name of the ukulele parts, the basics for strumming, and a couple fun songs.


Ukulele Tool Kit — Beginner Ukulele

11:30am — 12:45pm

Requisites — Starter Kit or some previous experience playing

If you know a couple chords, can strum a couple songs but want to get more confident and build up your skills this is the place for you. We’ll do lots of playing and take the time to practice basic strumming patterns, chord switches and jam session survival techniques so you will always have them in your tool kit.


Beatles Songs – Almost Intermediate Ukulele

1:30pm — 2:45pm

We’ll dive into the timeless catalogue of Beatles tunes that we all know and love. You’ll get lots of time to play and sing through the classics and challenge yourself with the more complicated progressions.


Ukulele Jam Night! — Absolute Beginner +

7:00pm — 8:30pm

Ages 18+

This is an adult’s only absolute beginner class. (More experienced folks are welcome to join in too!) I'll supply the Ukes and we will strum, and sing, and laugh our way through campfire song books and generally have a good time. No experience necessary, all instruments provided. (Location: Art Swanson’s in Mitchel Bay)
